Ronaldo has revealed his new shirt for Real Madrid for the 09 10 season - and he'll be playing number 9. Ronaldo would have preferred his favoured number 7 however this is being worn by his fellow signing, Kaka. At his press conference earlier this week, Ronaldo said;

"I wanted 7 but 9 is also a mythical number, it always makes me happy. The numbers do not play, I will try to do things the same way, regardless of the number on my shirt."

The record breaking £80 million pound signing sported his new shirt infront of 80,000 appreciative Real Madrid supporters. In his number 9 Real Madrid Shirt Ronaldo will play alongside fellow new signing, Kaka in the number 8 shirt. Ronaldo also took time to praise his former manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, declaring him a "maestro".

"I have to thank all the supporters, my boss, my friends, my team-mates, I was at the club for six years, I have friends there and good relationships there, people understand my decision and respect that my dream now is to play for Madrid. I won many things in Manchester, but that's life, this is my new house, my new club and I will do everything here."

Meanwhile back at Old Trafford, new signing Michael Owen is to take Ronaldo's old shirt number 7.
